JM Bower is a family-run timber business based in Shropshire. From managing and harvesting woodland to milling British-grown timber and crafting finished products, we work across the entire journey from forest to finish.
Britain has an exceptional timber resource, yet much of the timber we use is still imported. We believe there is a better way. By responsibly managing British woodlands, milling timber locally and turning it into high-quality finished products, we can make better use of the resource growing on our doorstep.
It means a shorter, more transparent supply chain, greater control over the timber we use, and more value retained within British forestry and the local economy.
We work with British-grown timber sourced through our own forestry operations and trusted local suppliers. By managing woodlands responsibly and using the timber they produce, we help keep more of the value of British forestry here in the UK.
Forestry, harvesting, sawmilling and manufacturing all sit within one business. We can take a tree from the woodland, process it through our own sawmill and turn it into anything from structural timber and cladding to a finished cabin or sauna.
Processing timber ourselves gives us greater control over quality, dimensions and species. It also means we aren’t restricted to standard merchant sizes — we can mill timber specifically for the job and make better use of every log.
Founded by brothers Joe and Matt Bower, we’re a small, hands-on team based in Shropshire. Customers deal directly with the people doing the work, whether that’s managing a woodland, milling an order or building a finished product.
